Senku arrives back at petrified Taiju and begins thinking about what the cause of the Petrification could be: aliens, a mishap involving a secret military weapon of mass destruction, or a countagious disease. The lack of evidence means Senku must figure things out on his own. He analyzes his stone shell, and notices that certain areas that didn't erode much completely reverted back to stone.
The next morning, Senku awakens to an unknown island by himself. Hungry and unsure of the location, Senku begins to explore the island he'd washed up on. He comes across a pack of wolfs eyeing him as prey, and realizes that he needs to survive in order to go home. Senku starts building himself a shelter as a means of survival, but it's too time consuming for his current energy level. He decides to boil the water from the ocean into desalinated water, then magically turn it back into salt using electrolysis. An impressed Taiju applauds his friend's genius, but he just got started.
Taiju Oki and Senku Ishigami are two highschool students sharing a love of science. On the day of their high school entrance ceremony, they notice something peculiar: everyone else has been petrified into stone statues. The two are the only survivors, and Taiju suggests they search for someone else who hasn't yet turned to stone in hopes of finding some explanation. Taiju gets hungry, so stops off to buy a sandwich whilst Senku goes on ahead, and then suddenly...
The cave that Senku, Taiju and Yuzuriha first find is completely full of the nitric acid solution, so they decide to name it "the cave of miracles". It no doubt sounds like a literary pun on the name "cave of wonders" in Disney's Aladdin, which is also full of miracles.
Taiju walks Senku to Tsukasa's location, asking if he's doing it for his crush or if Senku is just bored and wants a fight. Senku says it's because he despises evil. Taiju asks why he doesn't simply revive Tsukasa; Senku says that his definition of evil is different than Tsukasa's, an innocent man crushed underfoot by evil. He asserts that having nothing but evil causes the world itself to rot from within, and refuses to accept it. Declaring that the world's only way to win is with science and reason, he leaves a shocked Taiju behind as he rests against a tree.
As Senku picks up the final pieces of wood, he states that there's just 1 more thing to do. He builds a small depression into the ground and covers it with plastic. He declares himself a man who can make whatever he wants, and gets to work on building a fire, using his magnifying glass to focus sunlight onto a piece of bark. He tests out his fire, and collapses from exhaustion.
After being petrified for 3700 years, high schooler Taiju Ooki uses his strength to come back to life and save the world.
Senku is a great protagonist and I can't wait to read more!

Senku come to build himself a shelter, the final thing he needs to survive. At the end of his endurance, he falls and decides he should revive Tsukishima if he has any chance of surviving. He returns to where he was petrified and finds Taiju Iki's big hand protruding from the ground. He dug it up, crying at the sight of his friend's face again.
Senku finds a safe place to sleep and wakes up the next day. He realizes that he will need to revive someone to continue living on his own. After lots of digging, Senku finds Taiju's hand protruding from the rock and begins to dig him out. Senku explains that there are three possibilities to explain what caused him to turn into stone: aliens, a special weapon, or a viral disease. The story continues with Senku exploring the cave where the light turned him back into human.
Senku had been able to make it back to the petrifying fountain and started digging. He called out Taiju’s name repeatedly, hoping for a response. But he heard nothing in return. He continued digging down until he hit something hard. It was Taiju’s muscular arm! Senku got on his knees and prayed. He asked the heavenly guardian of science to watch over him as he revived Taiju from his stone statue.
Taiju praises Senku's scientific breakthrough. The nitric acid was enough to turn Senku back to flesh, but they'll need a lot more to restore those who've been petrified in the stone. They make the goal of restoring Tsukasa, and plan on using a hot spring for the next day's excavation.
Senku Ishigami (ISHIGAMI Senku) is the main protagonist of the Dr. Stone manga and anime series. He is a prodigy from Ishigami Village who was a part of the Kingdom of Science when he was made famous for creating gunpowder. He is revived by Taiju Oki after being petrified for 3700 years.
Senku has finally accomplished all three necessary things to survive: food, clothing and shelter. Now it's time to revive his best friend, Taiju!
As a mysterious hunter appears, Senku and co. gets caught up in the battle between Tsukasa and Hyoga. Meanwhile, Kohaku and Ginro are turned to stone as they prepare some "special seaweed" for the village.
The new additions to the story are well done, fairly easy to read and sensical. The story progresses smoothly and there is good action. The characters are also likeable and we learn more about them as the story goes along. There are some good jokes as well, as well as some drama-related bits. Overall, this was a very enjoyable read, and I am looking forward to seeing where the story goes next.
